The learning package is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students who completed an introductory sociolinguistics orapplied linguistics module. The learning package can be completed in 3 x 90 minutes on a tutor-led course. Preliminary reading of Buchholtz (2021) recommended. The package consists of 3 parts. The first two deal with theoretical and practical issues of linguistic ethnography and participatory research; the third part explores the benefits and dilemmas of participatory research based on the authors\u2019 experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two pdf files are posted here; the one (without instructions) contains questions to help learners and lecturers work through the tasks, and the other (complete with instructions) contains supplementary material to initiate collective or individual reflection. These instructions are only suggestions concerning the possible directions which the classroom conversations can take; they deliberately do not provide ready-made answers in order to provide affordances for lecturers\u2019 and students\u2019 own perspectives and experience). The version without instructions is recommended for groups of students who wish to learn about the characteristics and dilemmas of the field with the coordination of a seminar leader.
